DETAILS
Hand-made soft hemp rope made from Cannabis sativa that has been pulped to remove any impurities before being turned into yarn. This creates a strong, odour-free rope. If you are new to using hemp rope see my Shibari 101 Guide to Hemp Rope.
This rope has been hand dyed, dried, and then softened further to give a beautiful heavy-weight, dense rope.
The rope is fully treated and does not require any additional treatments, it is ready to use straight out of the box.
All my ropes are suitable for vegans; I do not supply beeswax, nor use it in my rope treatment.
Available for purchase individually or as a set.
All ropes are finished with traditional overhand knots.
COLOUR VARIATIONS
As this rope is hand dyed, there will be colour variations between batches. The dye does not fully penetrate the dense fibres of hemp ropes and so there is likely to be a lighter patch around knots.
ROPE SUITABLE FOR:
This rope is suitable for shibari and kinbaku, and can also be used for bedroom bondage.
Jute and hemp rope has traditionally been used for suspension. It is advisable to use synthetic hemp for uplines as it is not possible to provide an accurate weight test for natural fibre ropes, and any test on a rope's strength only reveals its strength on the day of testing. Hemp rope is, however, stronger than jute and some experienced riggers, able to properly assess the strength and condition of the ropes they are using, choose to use it for suspension at their own risk. The strength of the rope is not certified in any manner.
