How to Hank Shibari Rope

Rope hanks are used for day to day use, transport and short term storage. There are many ways, and new methods are often being published. Here we look at some of the more tried and tested options, so here are my favoriate three.

  • Shibari rope hank - standard hank

    Standard Hank

This is the easiest method of getting your rope in a bundle, using a standard overhand knot, most people can tie this straight away with little fiddling required.

  • Shibari rope hank figure of 8 lock

    Figure of 8 Lock

This method is really useful as it results in a loop of rope you can use to attach all your hanks of rope together with a carabiner. The start of this method and method three are the same  making it easier to learn both!

Longer Term Storage

Longer term storage (ie- more than a week or two) Hanks and bundles are ideal for day to day use, quick access and travel, however if you might not be using your ropes for a few weeks, it would be best to use a "storage" method to keep your ropes at their best, learn more about this here
